Jeez, I suck. Sorry folks, work has kept me very busy and then I got a nasty virus that put me down hard. Still…twenty days…
Won’t happen again.
Stuff has been happening in these nearly three weeks. I submitted several stories and got back about 3 rejections. Its ok. I AM going to figure out what kind of story John Joseph Adams likes if it kills me, though. I’ve been editing about one story a week from June’s ’30 in 30’ challenge. So I have pretty good backlog of stuff to submit to markets. That has been my big weakness. I’m writing, I’m even editing, occasionally. But I’m not submitting enough. I’m trying hard to fix that, going forward.
I did sell the ‘Therium 99’ anthology rights and a small, accompanying flash fiction ad. That was unexpected and nice, not a ton of cash but that’s ok.
More recently, I attended the CascadeWriters Workshop (http://cascadewriters.com/) this past weekend. It was a lot more fun than expected. I got to see some familiar faces, Heather, Rebecca and Randy and Patrick were there, so was Tina Connolly whom I met at Norwescon earlier in the year. I also got to meet even more new folks, writers like me or better than me :) Good stuff, good times. The workshop went very smoothly, the hotel (the Phoenix Inn) in Vancouver, WA was fine and I even got a couple of flash fiction pieces written. I learned stuff, met people, had fun. All in all, a very good workshop.
Now I’d like to expand the Cloud City Wordslingers. With a little luck, we’ll have some new members and a website this August. I’ll keep you posted and, again, sorry about the extended silence. I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen again.
